Write for Right India
A national initiative to help people, and especially children, learn to write, write with purpose, and see their writing published.
What is Write for Right India?
Write for Right India is a writing initiative of Shhalaj Publishing House — a programme built to give people a genuine, structured route from writing to publication. Its first focus is the Children's Anthology, a national platform inviting children to share their thoughts, imagination and stories through writing.
Why Writing Matters
Writing gives shape to thought. It helps children and adults alike develop confidence, clarity and empathy — and it gives ideas a way to travel beyond the person who first had them. Write for Right India exists because every voice deserves that chance.
Who Can Participate
The Children's Anthology is open to children within the eligibility criteria published on the Children's Anthology page. Schools, teachers and parents can all play a part in helping children take part — see the Submission Guidelines for how each group can get involved.
How It Works
From announcement to publication, in ten simple stages.
An Initiative of Shhalaj Publishing House
Write for Right India is run by Shhalaj Publishing House, a family business since 1938 with more than 600 titles. Every entry is read by a panel of empanelled editors. Read more about the initiative.
Important Dates
Submissions for the Children's Anthology open on 15 November 2026 and close on 6 December 2026. Results are announced on 28 December 2026, and the book is tentatively set to launch on 28 January 2027 (to be confirmed on 28 December). See the Timeline page.
Submission Process
The full submission process — including how to submit, what is needed from parents, guardians and schools, and how entries are reviewed — is set out in the Submission Guidelines.
Guidelines
Before submitting any writing, please read the Submission Guidelines in full — they cover eligibility, originality, formatting, consent and everything else you need to know.
