Overview
Write for Right India, an initiative of Shhalaj Publishing House, respects the privacy of everyone who visits this website or takes part in a Write for Right India programme — including children and their parents or guardians. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run Write for Right India:
- Contact form: your name, email address, enquiry type and message.
- Register your interest: your name, email address and who you are (for example parent or teacher), plus your phone number, school or organisation, city and a message if you choose to give them.
- Parent/guardian account: the details you give when you create an account on the Shhalaj Author Portal to submit an entry (name, email, phone number, country, and a password that we store only in encrypted form).
- Anthology entries: the child's first name and age, city and state, optional school, your relationship to the child, the entry's title, category and language, the Word file you upload, and a record of your consent (date, time and IP address).
- Server logs: standard, anonymised web server logs used to keep the site secure and running smoothly.
We do not ask for a child's surname, email address or phone number. A photograph of a selected writer is requested only after selection, and used only with the parent or guardian's agreement.
How We Use Information
Contact form messages and interest sign-ups are used to reply to you and to tell you about Write for Right India. Entry details are used only to run the Children's Anthology: to review entries, to contact the parent or guardian (for example to confirm an entry or announce results), and, for selected entries, to prepare the book. Children's information is never used for marketing.
Children's Information
Where a Write for Right India programme involves children, we collect the minimum information necessary to run that programme, we require parent or guardian consent, and we handle that information with particular care. See our Child Safety Policy for more detail.
Information Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only where necessary to run a programme (for example, with the editorial team reviewing a submission), or where required by law.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information submitted to this website against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
Your Rights
You may ask us what information we hold about you, and request that it be corrected or deleted, by contacting us at support@shhalaj.com.
Changes to This Policy
This policy will be updated as Write for Right India grows. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date at the top of this page.
